La Mallorquina
Sometimes tradition does not only mean years of antiquity. Tradition combines with modernity if it means facing the challenges of the future while maintaining its identity. This is the case of La Mallorquina, an emblematic bakery in Madrid that fuses tradition and modernity by facing the challenges of the future without losing its identity in its 125 years of history. Founded in 1894 by three Mallorcans, it was initially established in Jacometrezo and later acquired the iconic premises in Puerta del Sol. Initially influenced by Mallorcan products, it evolved to offer a wide range of sweet delicacies. For decades, the shop was a meeting point for illustrious gatherings and served as a witness to the history of Spain.
After overcoming challenges, the Quiroga and Gallo families revived the essence of La Mallorquina. In 1960, reforms were carried out that gave shape to the current establishment. In the 21st century, under the third generation, the bakery has received awards and remains the only 19th century establishment active in Puerta del Sol, preserving the tradition and being a reference in the sweet culture of the city.
La Mallorquina, an icon of La Puerta del Sol, 125 years have passed since it opened its doors in 1894 and its history is part of the sweet gastronomy of Madrid.
